Located in the Southern Levant, the Kingdom of Jordan is key and central to many of the Arab countries, as well as Palestine. It shares a border with Syria, Saudia Arabia and Iraq and connects to the West Bank and Gaza City via the Sheikh Hussein Bridge which crosses the River Jordan.
There are lots of things to see and do, such as visiting the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Petra – otherwise known as the ‘Rose City’ thanks to its pink sandstone cliffs – which is home to the Royal Tombs and has candlelit trails of the city by night.
For a bit of a spa experience, you can immerse yourself in the Dead Sea for the ultimate in floatation therapy thanks to the water’s high salt content. Why not soak in Jordan’s natural wonders including panoramic desert views then indulge yourself in a mud bath or massage.
There are plenty of beaches to choose from, or you could head to the Wadi Rum desert itself for a spot of sandboarding or stargazing by night. Dubbed the ‘Valley of the Moon’, it offers the experience of staying overnight (or longer) in a traditional Bedouin tent.
